throughout our whole life and the year we celebrate many many festivals and celebrations that makes our life cultural interesting and decorates our life with happiness joy friendship and equality.

celebration is a event that we can celebrate individually or in a group on any day or time in anywhere or in any way,example birthday.

 

Festival

festival is a series of events celebrated by a whole community or society on a specific place and time , example pohela boishake.

new year (English )


new year is celebrated to welcome the new upcoming year and believe that the new year will be lucky for us.we celebrate it by making and eating yummy food with relatives and friends and others , we wear new dress , party all night, we dance sing,we clean our house to take away all the evil spirits,we light candles , we light fireworks, greet others ,we pray to god,(sometimes) the children get money or gifts from elders.we give value to the year and our family.

 

national festival - national festivals are the festivals that we celebrate in a specific country locally.example-


pohela boishakh- 


pohela boishakh is the new year of bengali calender. it's celebrated in all the Bengal community specially in western bengal.

brief history of pohela boishakh-

 Mughal Emperor Jalaludin Mohammed Akhbar, introduced a revised Bengali calendar to make tax collection easier in Bengal. The Mughals collected tax according to the Islamic calendar and Akbar ordered an improvement of the calendar systems, because the lunar Islamic calendar did not agree with the harvests and the farmers faced severe difficulties in paying taxes out of season.

In present we celebrate this festival traditionally to welcome the Bengali new year. we celebrate in different ways like fairs are held where varieties of Bangladeshi hand made crafts are sold,we eat our traditional food pantha with hilsha fish and bhortha , we wear red and white dress, government holiday is given, people make alpona on the road, drawing, singing, dance competitions are held for children, people do rally with hand crafts on the road, people draw on face, people go  to others house for invitation,  different tv shows occur on this festival, we wish others "shobhonoboborsho" etc. in this festival we belief our new year will go well and give values to our culture and traditions also to our Bengali calendar. we should celebrate this festival or else our traditions will be lost or extincted.


victory day and independence day-

independence day is celebrated on 26th march on which day bongobondhu shekh mujibur rahman told a inspirited speech and declared the independence of bangladesh. And  on 16th December when officially Bangladesh was declared as a independent country. so we celebrate this day by wearing red and green dress, decorating shops and roads with flag, by giving flower in sretishoudo/to the martyres, different cultural programs are held, tv shows are held , we go to the fair, government holidays are given, competitions are held, political speech and meetings are held, march pass is also held etc. from this festival we learn more about our country history and able to love our country. we give value to our country. we should celebrate this festival or else our history and culture will be lost. 

Our country is mixed with different religions people and every religion have a main religious festival. Below there are one main religious festival for each religion-

= Eid-ul- fitre
=Eid-ul-azha
                                 Eid-ul fitre-
After keep fasting for one month in Ramadan and when the moon of sowal month rises the joy of Eid-ul-fitre starts and they celebrate it by helping the poor through giving zakat, wear new dress, eat tasty food, others are invited to visit, at the morning people go to eidgah for taking the prayer of Eid, after that hugs each other forgoting to make difference between others.etc.
                                      Eid-ul-azha

Eid-ul-azha is another festival celebrated on 10th jilhoj by slatering any domestical animal to Allah in the name of our favourite person and Allah. then we divide and give the meat to the poor, relatives, friends. we also pray to Allah.
              these both Eid teaches us to obey Allah's order, to sacrifice, help others, be caring not greedy etc.
                                  Christianity
Main religious festival-

  =Christmas
= Easter Sunday
Christmas is celebrated for jesus's birthday on 25th December  by eating tasty food specially cake and pith, by wearing new food, elders give gifts to the children, they decorate Christmas tree with ribbons, lights, flowers, goes to the church for prayer etc.
Easter Sunday is celebrated for the rebirth of jesus chirst on 27th March. on this day people exchange chocolates shaped as eggs and also goes to the church for prayer.

                                                 Hinduism

Main religious festival-

    

   =Durga puja

    =Saraswati puja

    =Lakhshmi puja

Durga puja is celebrated in Autumn the bengali month of shorothkal. they celebrate it by making proshad using sweets and fruits, wear new dress, people invites others to their house, they dance and sings with drums, they do puja/ worship they goddess of good energy Durga etc.

other 2 pujas are celebrated in the bengali month of kartik. lakhshmi as the goddess of wealth ang saraswati as the goddess of intelligence.

                                                         Buddhism
main festival-
=Buddha Purnima
It is celebrated in the full moon day of March/April, by lighting the house or temple,by praying to Buddha, by doing meditation, by pouring water on a statue of Buddha as a baby which symbolizes a new and pure beginning etc.
